So you've set up your Canteen, Meal Types and Canteen Limits. What's next?

On the left hand menu, head to Meals > Settings

How can you send crew personalised information about their meals?

So once you’ve allocated meals to your Areas and Groups within them. Perhaps you’ve even allocated meals to individuals. Now, you need to make sure that your Crew knows which meals they have access to.

Once the meals module is enabled, Meals placeholders will appear on the placeholders menu in your email templates. They can be really helpful to make sure your teams know what they have been given. Let’s go through them - some are more self explanatory than others.

Meals Placeholders

{MEALS_TEMPLATE} & {MEALS_TEMPLATE_IF_NOT_MEALS}

These two placeholders work in a similar way to the Conditional placeholders that we covered in the Placeholders module. The relevant information is displayed based on what each individual has been assigned; in this case, whether they have been assigned any meals or not.

As you can see we have entered some details in both the boxes. In the Meals template it shows canteen opening times and how they can redeem their meals. You’ll also notice that I have placed two placeholders within this information - meals allocation and meal checker.

If a person has meals assigned as has been sent an email from Eventree with this placeholder {MEALS_TEMPLATE} in it, this is the info that will appear.

Likewise if a person has no meals assigned and has been sent an email from Eventree with the {MEALS_TEMPLATE_IF_NOT_MEALS} template, this is what will appear.

Some other useful placeholders:

{MEALS_ALLOCATION} Using this will list the meals that an individual has been allocated.

{MEALS_CHECKER} This will show a link to the meals checker page (https://eventree.co.uk/check) with the individual's passcode pre-entered.

All they have to do is click on the link and then they can see an up-to-date summary of which meals they have been given, on what day and any confirmed dietary requirements.

There are two other meal placeholders you may want to include in your emails which can be sent to section managers, these are

{MEALS_GROUP_ALLOCATION} - A Group's quota of meals, send this in the Group Leader login email template

{MEALS_AREA_ALLOCATION} - An Area or Sub-area's quota of meals, send this in an Area Manager login email template.
