Configuration

Before you can send text messages from Eventree you will need to sign up for a Twilio account. Twilio provide voice/data services and will take care of actually sending your text messages to people's phones. We have integrated with their platform to enable you to send the messages from within Eventree, but you'll still need to create an account with them first.

Once you have a Twilio account you can follow these steps in Eventree.

1) Go to Event settings > Core settings:

2) Scroll down to the Email/SMS section. In here you will need to enter your Twilio Account SID and Twilio Auth Token. Both of these can be copied and pasted from your Twilio dashboard:

3) Click save after adding each setting. Also please make sure you tick 'Enable bulk SMS' to switch the SMS feature on.

4) Note the Twilio SMS ID - this will try to send messages from "Eventree" by default. Whatever you use here you must verify it with Twilio first otherwise your messages will not be sent. 

Sending text messages

Once configured, in order to actually send text messages you'll need to follow these steps:

1) Access the area, sub-area or group containing the people you want to contact. If you want to contact everyone in your event then you can do this from the top level of the event instead.

2) Click on 'Bulk email/sms' at the top of the page:

3) Use the filters to find the people you want to send the message to. Then select 'Blank SMS' from the list of templates:

4) Click 'Next'. On the next screen you can compose the message:

5) Click 'Send' when you're ready to send your text message.
