Change is coming 🔮
There is a change coming to Eventree, we are changing a fundamental feature when it comes to allocating passes. Pass categories will now allow individuals to be assigned more than one pass from within each pass category.
What do I need to know?
The key changes that are happening:
Individuals can now be assigned more than one pass per category, if the setting is enabled for that category
Allocating passes in grid view and list view will look different
The import sheet logic has changed with a new column for either Group or Individual
You can now import empty Groups without passes
Flexible pass allocation is a setting, set per pass category:
It is a setting which can be toggled on/off within the pass category settings.
However once you have allocated two passes from a category to any individual, it can’t be switched off again.
To enable or disable the setting Edit the pass category and then select or deselect "Allow flexible allocation".

When might I use this?
The general flexibility of this change will reduce friction whenever allocating passes to individuals.
You may not always need it but examples of when it makes things simpler include:
Issuing multiple Day passes to an individual - eg Friday crew, Saturday crew, Sunday crew
Issuing passes for multiple shows within one portal
Issuing more than one vehicle pass
Issuing additional passes to someone once they have had a pass redeemed already

Are there any times I might not want this?
Not really! Ultimately, users were still able to allocate multiple passes from each category previously, by simply adding themselves in twice(unless they were using the ‘unique individuals’ setting).
This just makes it easier.
What are the benefits of this?
-More flexibility, less planning required when creating categories
-Fewer categories needed
-Fewer columns in grid view
-Clearer import function

How can I stop people claiming loads of passes they don’t need?
Allocations are still controlled per Area, Sub-Area and Group as they were before.

How will imports work with this feature?
The logic of imports has changed slightly as previously, if you tried to add an individual with more than one pass from a category, it’d automatically make a Group instead.
However, now that the system allows an individual to have more than one pass per category, we have changed imports.
When importing individuals or groups, you must now specify if you’re creating a group or individual.
To do this, when you download the import template you will see the first column says "Group or Individual". Simply enter either the word "Group" or "G" or "Individual" or "I" into that column to tell the import if it should create an individual or group.
